AWS Cloud operations specialist

Description of the Tasks

Following tasks will be performed by external service provider:

• Configures and administers cloud infrastructure and applications.

• Define configuration management and deployment strategies for Cloud resources.

• Ensure availability and stability of cloud production environments.

• Develop, and design software automation and scripts to orchestrate cloud and virtualization technologies with defined scope, schedule and expectations with a focus on Operations.

• Provides subject matter expert technical support to customers using Cloud Platform products, solutions and APIs with a focus on Operations.

• Design and implement DevSecOps capabilities (e.g. observability, continuous monitoring, tractability).

• Work with the development teams in resolving software and other related problems associated with the cloud deployment infrastructure and the code deployed onto platforms such as Database and/or Middleware.

• Manage day-to-day deployment and maintenance activities.

• Analyse and tune information systems performances.

• Security administration and monitoring, in adherence to the security rules imposed by the Commission’s central security service (complemented by local rules where needed); under supervision of the LISO (Local Information Security Officer).

Requirements

• Developer background (Java, Typescript, git, Terraform, etc)

• Good knowledge of virtualization technologies

• Good knowledge in scripting languages for cloud infrastructure automation

• Experience in administering systems in a virtualized Cloud environment

• Strong understanding of security, risk and compliance frameworks, disaster recovery, high availability architectures, hardware, operating systems, and networking connectivity

• Good Knowledge of Cloud infrastructure setups from vendors such as Amazon, Azure, and other cloud providers

• Knowledge of Middleware systems

• Knowledge of messaging services and platforms

• Knowledge of JEE

• Knowledge of Linux

• Knowledge of RDBMS

Non-Technical Skills

• Capability of integration in an international/multicultural environment, rapid self-starting capability, and experience in working in a team

• Ability to participate in multilingual meetings

• Ability to work in a multicultural environment, on multiple large projects

• Excellent Team Player

• Ability to understand, speak, and write English (C1/C2) will be an advantage

• High degree of discretion and integrity is required as the applications managed and maintained in DG GROW B3 contain personal and confidential data

Specific Expertise

• At least 4 years of specific operational expertise with AWS (Microsoft Azure knowledge would be welcome), including provisioning, operation, and monitoring - min. competence level 4

• At least 4 years of specific expertise with cloud services (e.g. - compute, storage, network, and managed services) - min. competence level 5

• At least 4 years of specific expertise of IT Infrastructure administration and configuration (Windows System, Linux System, Network, Security, Storage) - min. competence level 5

• At least 4 years of specific expertise in building and supporting SaaS cloud services - min. competence level 4

• At least 4 years of specific expertise with automation, Infrastructure as Code, configuration management, and deployment scripting using CLI - min. competence level 5

Certifications & Standards

• AWS Associate level: Minimum Developer, or Solution Architect

• In case the certification is missing, and the required expertise is validated, the selected candidate must obtain the certification in the 6 months following the start of their assignment
