Application/Cloud Architect

We are currently looking for a Senior Cloud Architect with a strong Java Full Stack background to support a major DG GROW digital transformation initiative. This role combines architectural leadership with hands-on design, cloud enablement, and secure full-stack development using modern technologies.

The selected consultant will work closely with project managers, developers, and business stakeholders to drive forward integration, migration and interoperability goals, while ensuring the highest quality standards in software design and documentation.

Key responsibilities include:
The consultant will participate in the analysis and integration of multiple information systems and data sources. Tasks include designing cloud-based architecture blueprints, coordinating implementation of the target technical architecture, and acting as the main technical interface between project stakeholders and development teams.

She/he will produce detailed architecture documentation and assist during key delivery phases: testing, deployment, evaluation, and reporting. The architect will also participate in technical working groups and user-facing meetings, contributing actively to decisions on design, interoperability, and infrastructure alignment. A key focus is also the migration and transformation of existing systems into a cloud-native architecture.

Required knowledge and experience:
The consultant must demonstrate strong expertise in architecture best practices, object-oriented design, and enterprise-level interoperability. Proficiency with cloud technologies, microservices, and secure web application development is required.

Solid knowledge of:

• Object-Oriented Architecture and design patterns

• Cloud-native architecture and microservices

• Business process analysis and relational DBMS (Oracle, PostgreSQL, etc.)

• Modelling tools and Enterprise Architecture (e.g. TOGAF, ArchiMate)

• Interoperability protocols: web services, message-oriented middleware, service buses, REST, SOAP, event-driven architecture

• Modern front-end development: Angular 2+, TypeScript, responsive UIs

In addition, the consultant should be experienced in:

• Java development (J2SE, J2EE), with at least 7 years of hands-on experience

• Spring and Spring Boot frameworks (5+ years)

• SQL and relational databases (5+ years)

• Secure application development (3+ years)

• Docker, Kubernetes, Apache Maven (3+ years)

• Web services and XML (3+ and 2+ years respectively)

• Versioning and issue tracking tools (GitLab, JIRA)

Soft skills and working environment:
The project requires excellent communication and collaboration skills, especially in multilingual and multicultural settings. The ability to work across large projects and multiple teams is essential. Fluency in English (C1/C2) is required, and a high degree of discretion is expected due to the sensitive nature of the data handled.
