
Job description
We are currently looking for a highly experienced Cloud/Solution Architect to join a cross-functional team supporting strategic digital transformation within the European public sector. The consultant will contribute to the full lifecycle of technical architecture, from high-level design to implementation coordination and quality control.
This position requires a strong ability to bridge business needs and technical execution, with a particular focus on integration, cloud technologies, and interoperability across systems.
Core responsibilities include:
Analysing integration needs between multiple complex information systems
Designing and modelling data structures and technical architecture components
Producing detailed architecture documents and technical specifications
Coordinating with project leaders, development teams (internal and external), and infrastructure stakeholders
Defining interoperability standards, APIs and service interfaces
Participating in technical working groups, user meetings and progress reviews
Supporting key phases of system delivery: testing, documentation, deployment and reporting
Reviewing and modernising existing system architectures for migration to the cloud
Designing cloud-native architecture blueprints and reusable building blocks
Overseeing the technical quality of deliverables produced by third-party contractors
Job requirements
Required expertise:
Minimum 10 years of hands-on experience in architecture best practices and design patterns
At least 10 years in application design across complex environments
Proven experience (7+ years) with modelling tools (e.g. UML, BPMN, Enterprise Architect)
5+ years of experience in cloud and microservices architecture
Solid background in Enterprise Architecture frameworks (e.g. TOGAF)
Experience in business process analysis, service-oriented architecture, and data modelling (SQL Developer, Oracle tools)
Strong understanding of IT security standards (web, database, and cloud environments)
Familiarity with crisis management and early warning systems (ideally in the public health domain) is a plus
Soft skills and working environment:
The ideal candidate demonstrates adaptability to rapidly changing technologies, excellent interpersonal and drafting skills, and the ability to clearly present technical concepts to both specialist and non-specialist audiences. Fluency in English (written and spoken) is mandatory. The consultant should be willing to collaborate closely with teams based in both Brussels and Luxembourg.
