Job description

We are currently looking for a highly experienced Cloud/Solution Architect to join a cross-functional team supporting strategic digital transformation within the European public sector. The consultant will contribute to the full lifecycle of technical architecture, from high-level design to implementation coordination and quality control.

This position requires a strong ability to bridge business needs and technical execution, with a particular focus on integration, cloud technologies, and interoperability across systems.

Core responsibilities include:

  • Analysing integration needs between multiple complex information systems

  • Designing and modelling data structures and technical architecture components

  • Producing detailed architecture documents and technical specifications

  • Coordinating with project leaders, development teams (internal and external), and infrastructure stakeholders

  • Defining interoperability standards, APIs and service interfaces

  • Participating in technical working groups, user meetings and progress reviews

  • Supporting key phases of system delivery: testing, documentation, deployment and reporting

  • Reviewing and modernising existing system architectures for migration to the cloud

  • Designing cloud-native architecture blueprints and reusable building blocks

  • Overseeing the technical quality of deliverables produced by third-party contractors

Job requirements

Required expertise:

  • Minimum 10 years of hands-on experience in architecture best practices and design patterns

  • At least 10 years in application design across complex environments

  • Proven experience (7+ years) with modelling tools (e.g. UML, BPMN, Enterprise Architect)

  • 5+ years of experience in cloud and microservices architecture

  • Solid background in Enterprise Architecture frameworks (e.g. TOGAF)

  • Experience in business process analysis, service-oriented architecture, and data modelling (SQL Developer, Oracle tools)

  • Strong understanding of IT security standards (web, database, and cloud environments)

  • Familiarity with crisis management and early warning systems (ideally in the public health domain) is a plus

Soft skills and working environment:

The ideal candidate demonstrates adaptability to rapidly changing technologies, excellent interpersonal and drafting skills, and the ability to clearly present technical concepts to both specialist and non-specialist audiences. Fluency in English (written and spoken) is mandatory. The consultant should be willing to collaborate closely with teams based in both Brussels and Luxembourg.
